THE DAYS AFTER

Here is Sal and Alix on our first night home...
Our first night home we were both nervous wrecks! We thought to ourselves.."ok, we had the baby, now what?"
We listened to Alix's every breath that night, making sure that all was well.
In the days following Alix's arrival home he suffered from a horrible newborn rash and at 11 days old caught his first viral infection from the hospital. Sal and I were total basket cases but we managed to survive through it. The past couple of months we have really enjoyed spending time Alix and watching him grow.
D-Day

January 19th, 2010
It's D-Day and we were scheduled to be at the Hospital by 10am. Everyone wanted a picture of me pregnant but since I was feeling pretty gross the whole time I wasn't really a fan of the camera. However, I finally conceded and had Sal take my picture right before we left for the hospital so here I am in all my pregnant glory!! I gained a total of 20 lbs during my pregancy and it was pretty much ALL baby! Here is father-to-be also. If I had to get my picture taken then by God so did he!
Sal and my Aunt Sandy were by my side as they nurses prepped me for surgery. Sal was prepped too! He had everyone laughing as he kept saying that he looked like "a fat smurf" in his hospital attire. I thought he looked great!!
ALIX
Well...12:35pm and Alixander Justin Capaldo has finally made his way into the world...all 10lbs and 8oz of him!
The first thing I had was the Dr's saying "OMG - Look at the size of his head" "Look how big his shoulders are", "uh-oh, he is tee-teeing on Dr. Kendrick". I guess you could say he definately made his mark in more ways than one!!
So Sal and I finally got to meet our precious baby boy. The emotions were just so overwhelming. I was exhausted but happy beyond belief. This was truly the most wonderful and amazing day of my life!!
The Pregnancy
Well...the pregnancy got off to a rough start and the Dr. didn't think it was going to end well. However I knew this baby was meant to be. For once in my life I had such complete and utter faith that God had given me this baby for a reason and despite what the Dr. said, I knew the pregnancy would go full term. My family and friends prayed for us endlessly. After the first nine weeks the Dr. and Nurse came in and gave me a hug and said that everything was going perfectly.
Unfortunately, I had morning sickness day in and day out the entire time. It stopped about two weeks before my due date. I also had all the other classic pregnancy symptoms..heartburn, leg cramps..etc..etc...
We found out that we were having a baby boy on September 11th and everyone, especially the Grandpa's, were overjoyed! About five months into the pregancy we knew we were going to have a "big boy". He always ran three weeks big throughout the last four months. We had a multitude of sonograms and they kept confirming the size so Dr. said she thought it would be in our best interest to consider a C-Section.
Two weeks before my due date (which was January 24th, 2010) the sono estimated that the baby was already 9lb and 10oz so the Dr. went ahead and scheduled my C-Section for Noon on Tuesday, January 19th, 2010.
As the big day began to approach, Sal and I were both so nervous, excited and running around frantically trying to get "Everything" in order!! I learned a valuable lesson - when it comes to babies...there is no such thing as "Everything in order"!!

THE BEGINNING

Welcome to our Family Blog featuring our Sweet Lil' Angel, Alix (aka A.J.)....
Here is how our Family story started.....
On July 12, 2001 a handsome and charming fellow by the name of Sal met a beautiful and vivacious young lady by the name of ...you guessed it - Nicki! It was love at first sight ( or something like that!) After four years of living and dating in Oklahoma the lovely couple decided to make it a permanent thing so they went to Nicki's home state of Texas and got married. After the wedding, the couple relocated to the groom's hometown of Hollywood, Florida. Florida was great! The weather was wonderful!! The family was amazing!!! The Economy however...eh..not so great, wonderful or amazing so the couple relocated to Texas.
On May 24, 2009 after four wonderful years of marriage, Sal and Nicki discovered that their dream of becoming parents had finally come true. And here folks, is where Our Story really begins.....
